5 things to do in Lisbon in winter!

Winter in Lisbon is known for having one of the warmest winters in Europe! The temperatures average between 8 degrees – 18 degrees and can get quite rainy, but ultimately it still remains sunny so you can still enjoy all the city has to offer! Here are 5 things we recommend to do when the weather isn’t in your favour.

  1. Oceanário de Lisboa / Lisbon Aquarium:

    Located in Parque das Nações, the Oceanário de Lisboa is a world-renowned public aquarium that is one of the largest in Europe, featuring over 15,000 marine creatures from 500 species! You can see penguins, sea otters, rays, sharks, coral, and the famous ocean sun fish! It is a must see experience, priced around 20 euros, and easily accessible by public transport, making it a super popular and in our opinion 100% worth it! It is right next to the Telecabine, which takes you across the river through the sky.

2. Calouste Gulbenkian Museum:

Nestled in the heart of Lisbon, the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum is a cultural centre showcasing an extensive collection of art and artifacts. Situated in the lush Gulbenkian Park, the museum's modernist building houses treasures from various civilizations, including ancient Egyptian relics, European paintings, and decorative arts. Afterwards, you can stroll through the beautiful gardens surrounding the museum and Gulbenkian Foundation.

3. Time Out Market:

Situated text to the Tagus river, The Time Out market is an indoor food hall home to over 40 restaurants specialising in Portuguese cuisine and food from all over the world! Located in the historical neighbourhood of Belem, the museum of Contemporary art is one of the best museums of modern and contemporary art in Portugal. It shows the stunning collection of millionare José Bernado, showcasing major artists such as Picasso, Andy Warhol and Piet Mondrian and many more! A must visit for art lovers!
